Refreshingly brisk on farming & inheritance tax from Guy Singh-Watson, hitherto owner of Riverford Farm. Riverford, now owned by its employees, had a turnover of £113m in 2023-24 and made a profit of £5.7m. He’s been awarded farmer of the year by the BBC twice.

The planning approval for a coal mine, granted by the previous Conservative govt, had been found unlawful by the High Court.

So now the mining company are using an investment treaty with Singapore to sue the current govt, with Tory MP Geoffrey Cox representing the claimants.

Any pensioner that buys the daily Mail or Express on week days could reduce there costs by a £182 a year if they buy it on Saturday and Sunday it seriously exceeds that what was the winter fuel allowance. Something for the government to factor in who should get the the WFA in the future.

The @ONS announces that all April’s inflation indices CPI, CPIH, and RPI were 0.1 too big due to errors in data for the effect of car tax (VED). So CPI should have been 3.4%. They will not be revised down for April but the May index - due on 18 June - will take account of it
