Looking for a reason, roaming through the night to find my place in this world.

I write coming-of-age stories with adults, because we’re also still figuring out life. On a quest to normalize conversations about mental health. Available for staffing.
FYI, I turned this OFF a few weeks ago and just checked and it’s back ON. So to check your settings even if you’ve disabled it in the past.
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Received a notification about a free turkey giveaway in Van Nuys on Saturday, the 22nd from one of my doctors offices. There’s a number you need to call to RSVP, so if anyone would like to go, send me a DM and I’ll share the number.

I had my first migraine in years on Friday and lost the whole weekend recovering. I’m pretty sure it was food induced as I was less careful this week while trying to save money.

They happened regularly when I was younger. I’m constantly remembering to give myself grace for literal years I lost.

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Read that back.

When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

The people in my building are all across the spectrum when it comes to politics. Today, while getting the mail, I noticed a Vote No on 50 flier with the messaging “your neighbors are watching.”

Isn’t that the opposite of a fair and safe election? These guys keep saying the quiet parts out loud.

Fun fact about unemployment:

In most states (every state I’m aware of), you can’t collect it unless you recently had a job. And not just work one day and quit. You had to be let go for no fault of your own. They call and check.

The amount you get is based on how much you made the past 6-12 months.

As of this morning, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (AKA: SNAP, Food Stamps or EBT) recipients STILL have not received their benefits. Meaning, they are unable to buy food. Because I h been both a SNAP recipient and a state caseworker who processed SNAP applications, I thought I should do

Most people think that the SNAP, or food stamp program was created to help poor people. It really, really was NOT. Not at all. The food stamps program was, in fact created to help farmers during the great depression.

Every now and then I’ll get a job offer for a help desk technician in Nashville. Nevermind I don’t live there anymore, the most I’ve been offered has been $17/hr, which is $4 more than I got at a temp agency in 2011.

2011.

Meanwhile, I looked up rent where I lived until 2013.

It’s twice as high.

PSA for anyone who happens to see this in their algorithm: Chipotle is offering $6 burritos for anyone who goes there in costume today (Halloween). A few other places have similar fun goodies, but this one is also an affordable way to get a relatively healthy meal, for anyone who needs such things.

Anyone who knows anything about psychology and politics can point this out better than I can, but there’s been a consistent pattern since 2015.

“I’m not saying I’m going to do X, but what if I do X?”

“People have said I should do X, and I probably won’t, but here’s how it could be cool if I did.”

For anyone looking for ways to reduce meal costs, I cannot recommend the Budget Bytes app and website highly enough. Most of the meals work out to under $2/serving, there are vegan options, things that freeze well, etc.

The Moroccan Lentil Stew is my favorite.

I know things are dark, but one shimmer of hope is how many people who have reached out to me and asked "how can I help get donations or volunteer to help families losing SNAP benefits next month?"

Take action.

Help your neighbors.

I don’t post much about current events. I’ve never liked to, nor felt it prudent to engage in political discussions in a completely public forum, and basically everything is politics now.

Which breaks my heart. Large groups of people whose humanity is erased for the sake of gaining more “power.”

FAQ2: Will you use AI to make your shows?

The genesis of Lowkey Moxie began in 2018. As the popularity of web series waned, Sandrene began brainstorming ways to showcase the talents of her friends in the indie film communities of Nashville and Atlanta in a serialized format.

Something I don’t see talked about are the number of Black men on social media using their platform to educate, show vulnerability, and show how to step up in relationships. It’s one thing to use media to break the stereotypes, but real people are role models and heroes. 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐

I worked a streaming event this week and someone kept making vague sexualized comments, pushing the boundaries each time. Finally, the mods timed him out for 10 minutes.

He came back crying about how unfair that was, but no one cared or paid attention and he stopped.

This is how you handle trolls.
