🚨 Outrage as 20 police officers break into Westminster Quaker Meeting House and arrest six. 🚨
This shocking violation of a place of worship is a direct result of crackdowns on protest and dissent - freedom of speech, assembly and democracy are at risk.🕊️

CN - Bereavement, Grief, Loss.

I was just thinking that since my Mum has died, I will never (in this life/on this Earth - I am a Christian and believe in Heaven/life after) experience love like she gave me, nor will I love anyone like I loved her.

That makes me feel sad.

I am currently doing a Peer Support course online (with live lessons). I am finding it difficult, particularly the group work.

As an #autistic person (and also with my mental health conditions), I find group work very difficult.

My wonderful neighbour, Dave, cuts my grass. This is something that I am really grateful for.

I don't believe that mental health conditions/mental illnesses are overdiagnosed.

Many children and young people are on waiting lists waiting for mental health related diagnoses.

Many adults can't access specialist diagnoses via psychiatrists due to NHS gatekeeping.

It is on days with personal setbacks that I miss my Mum more than ever. Today marks the 110th day since I last saw her in person, even longer since we had our last proper conversation. She seemed to always know the right thing to say to make me feel better.

I've had a personal setback today, which has led to me feeling pretty crap.

At the moment the whole world feels difficult.

Successive governments have failed to protect basic rights for decades.

Now, instead of tackling the root of soaring living costs, this govt is playing to the gallery - pitching cuts by framing people who are ill or disabled as a 'burden.'

Shameful.

For any new followers and friends I have gained...

Hi, I'm Jess, I talk about about lots of things on this account, particularly benefits, chronic illness, #disability, grief, and life after being a carer. Let's connect.

I want peace in Ukraine, and in the World. I agree that in the end a diplomatic settlement is probably the only way that the war in Ukraine will end.

But let's not forget, Putin's Russia invaded Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor. Ukraine is a democracy defending itself.

This morning, I am trying to apply for a discretionary housing payment (DHP) to cover the part of my rent that is not covered by my universal credit.

The form is so clunky and complex; it is kind of like they want people to give up before submitting the application.

I think that the #PremierLeague need to change the blackout preventing TV showing the 3.00pm Saturday kick off games in the Premier League. Other countries can view them, but the UK can't, so it encourages illegal streaming.

(I'm watching ENG v AUS in the cricket).

🚫 Don’t: “Everyone is a little autistic.”

✅ Do: “Autistic traits are not exclusive to Autistic people

and it’s the cumulative constellation of traits that they have

that fundamentally differs from the lived experiences of Non-Autistic people.”

(A bit wordy, but maybe the nuance is worth it.)

I am gradually decluttering my home after my Mum died and in anticipation of the council forcing me to move from the 2-bed home I currently live into a 1-bed.

It is a slow process, especially for a disabled person.

A question that I have that perhaps others can answer and/or ponder over, is why are autism and learning disability often joined together in discussions in UK health and social care, when approximately 2/3rds of autistic people don't have a learning disability?

When patients are not heard by their doctors there can be devastating consequences.

So why does this happen & what can be done to address it?

On the cover, Dr Rageshri Dhairyawan explores this question.

I'm watching the Munich Security Conference (MSC), and I am a pacificist (not a pacifist - they are slightly different).

I do think that defence spending needs to be upped in time to 5% of GDP.

I think the most damaging aspect of current disability benefits press releases is that they are coming out before the specific proposals from the Labour government, so disabled people don't know the details of how it is going to affect them; they are just being attacked in the media.

For me, at the moment, I don't feel ready to let go of my Mum's ashes. They are currently still in the box which I picked them up in from the funeral home.

I may find a suitable decorative urn and create a memorial area/table.
A question for people who have loved ones who have died and have had them cremated.

What have you done with their ashes? And if you have kept them at home, what kind of setup do you have (i.e. do you have a memorial table)?

Thank you in advance.

In fairness, I hadn't watched all the episodes when I wrote this.

Ronan, although I think he made mistakes, has loads of self-awareness and compassion, which, in my eyes, makes him a lot different from Louis Walsh.
Watching the #Boyzone documentary, I believe Louis Walsh undoubtedly comes off worse, but I don't think Ronan Keating comes off very well either.
