As a future health professional, this is how I plan to use nutrition in patient care: supporting treatments, assisting in recovery, and educating patients in ways for their lifestyles. All in all, good nutrition really does make people feel better, and that’s what matters.@beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Such a good reminder, especially with how long holiday food sits out during parties. I didn’t realize how unreliable the “sniff test” actually is. Posts like this make it way easier to keep everyone safe and avoid any post-Thanksgiving stomach aches. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
This is such an important reminder, especially during the holidays when food sits out for hours. The sniff test is so common but risky. Thanks for breaking down actual safety steps; this kind of info can keep people from getting sick. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
Holiday food safety is not optional. If you think the sniff test works, it doesn’t. I lay out the practical steps to keep the unwanted guests away this season.

Pomegranates are so underrated. One thing I always forget is how much fiber they pack into such a small serving. They’re sweet, refreshing, and actually super nutrient-dense. Definitely adding more of these into my snacks this season. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

The Thanksgiving food I was most excited for is sausage stuffing. My Uncle Ryan makes it every year, and it’s honestly the best part of the whole meal. I have no idea how he makes it, but whatever he does, it comes out perfect every time, and I look forward to it all year. @beh353.bsky.social#beh353

Espresso isn’t a type of bean; it’s all about the brew method. The super-fine grind and high pressure create that thick, creamy crema on top. So it’s not “stronger coffee,” it’s a totally different extraction! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is also fitting for the time we are in, with all the stress from life. You really do need to step back and appreciate the things around you. With this, we must remember also to be thankful for ourselves and everything we've accomplished so far in our journey! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
I love this reminder. Especially with the semester ending and finals coming up, it’s so important to pause and check in with ourselves. Progress really is about awareness, not perfection. @beh353 #beh353
November’s a good time to check in with yourself. Progress isn’t about doing everything right—it’s about noticing what helps you feel your best and doing more of that. #RealWorldNutrition

I completely agree, mental health gets ignored way too often when people focus on dieting or “fixing” their habits. Checking in with yourself and choosing what actually feels good is just as important as any nutrition goal. Real progress starts with how you feel. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
I think it is important to reflect on mental health when dieting. It is common to prioritize mental health before progression. It is important to choose what helps you feel the best, so you can make the best choices for yourself in the future. #beh353

Crazy to see that a GLP-1 pill can lead to around 11% weight loss in 72 weeks. Even if it’s not as strong as injections, it’s still a big step for people who prefer a pill over shots. Really shows how fast obesity treatment is changing znd progressing. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
GLP-1 in a pill shows up to 11% weight loss in 72 weeks.

Not as good as best results from injections (some trials show over 20%), but excellent compared to other drugs and WAY better than diets.

Tom's story showed me that real change comes from habits you can actually stick to. His simple, consistent routine led to huge weight loss, and it reminded me that you don’t need perfection; just small, sustainable choices. One steady habit can truly change everything. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I didn’t realize that the color of an egg’s shell comes from the breed of the hen and doesn’t affect its nutrition! Sadly, since I’m allergic to eggs, I can’t enjoy them myself, but it’s interesting to learn how labels can be so misleading. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I found that weight discrimination is as common as, or even higher than, discrimination of race or gender, and it significantly worsens health outcomes. I’ll work to use better language that values behaviour and health over body size, both personally & professionally. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I found it interesting that the article mentioned wild-caught fish isn’t always the most sustainable option, some farmed seafood can actually be better for the environment when raised responsibly. It really depends on how and where the seafood is sourced. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One barrier I relate to is the lack of time to plan and cook healthy meals. Between classes, work, and campus activities, I often don’t have the time or energy to prepare balanced meals. This makes it easier to grab quick, processed foods instead of cooking something nutritious. @beh353.bsky.social
November 3, 2025 at 3:10 AM
I can totally relate to that! It’s so hard to find the time to cook when you’re juggling classes and work. I often end up grabbing something quick too, even though I know it’s not the healthiest option. Time definitely feels like one of the biggest barriers to eating well.
"Unhealthy diet of friends and family" is relatable. As a college student, fast food is easier and cheaper to access than something healthy. When I am with family, we like to hang out and eat junk food while we catch up. It is not always a great choice, but enjoyable!

I agree! I didn’t realize how connected vitamin D and calcium were either. It’s cool how something as simple as sunlight can make such a difference. I like that the Foundation focuses on a full healthy lifestyle, not just taking a bunch of supplements. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Wow, I get why ranchers are upset. Bringing in that much beef from Argentina could really hurt local farmers. It’s nice that prices might drop for consumers, but I just hope they make sure it’s safe and doesn’t end up hurting U.S. producers too much. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
U.S. ranchers are furious over a plan to quadruple beef imports from Argentina. They warn it could hurt domestic producers and bring little price relief, while officials say it’ll help consumers. Disease concerns may limit the deal’s scope. #Beef

Absolutely! Pulses seem to be a powerhouse choice, affordable, packed with protein and fiber, and great for both personal health and the planet. Promoting them supports many with sustainable diets while cutting down on the environmental impact of animal protein. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Pulses such as beans, lentils, and chickpeas are now seen as top protein sources. They’re rich in nutrients, low in fat, and support digestive and heart health. This post proves that promoting pulses highlights sustainable eating and reduces reliance on other proteins. #beh353

Interesting how those terms can be misleading. “Natural” isn’t well-regulated, “organic” refers to production, not nutrition, and “low carb” doesn’t mean healthy. It’s best to read the full nutrition label and ingredients instead of relying on front-of-package claims. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Completely agree! Fad diets often oversimplify nutrition and make people fear all fats. In reality, healthy fats like those from avocados, nuts, and olive oil are essential; they support heart health, hormones, and brain function when eaten in moderation.
@beh353.bsky.social #beh353
A lot of fad diets treat fats as something super harmful and should be avoided, when it's only specific fats that are actually bad for you and certain types like unsaturated fats are really beneficial for your health. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Fat often gets an unfair label with either “bad” or “the best thing ever.” The reality is more balanced. In this week’s episode of Real World Nutrition, I talk about what types of fat matter most and how to make practical choices. www.shelleyrael.com/rwn-podcast/... #RealWorldNutrition

Absolutely! Fad diets often make people see food only as fuel or something to control, which takes away the joy and connection it brings. They can create guilt around eating instead of promoting a healthy, balanced relationship with food. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
“food is just fuel” is a popular saying in the fitness world. and sure, food can be fuel, but it can also be so much more.

food can be a way to connect with other people, cultures, and our memories.

you don’t have to moralize foods or punish yourself for enjoying them.

I looked into the paleo diet, which focuses mostly on eating like early humans with whole foods and no grains or dairy. While it may improve nutritional quality, it cuts out many healthy foods. I wonder if it’s truly sustainable or just another trend. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
