Just do something *normal* like making the bones into musical instruments, or disinterring the ancestors every few years to wrap them in fresh shrouds and parade them around for a bit before putting them back in the tomb, or feeding the remains to local scavengers.

But this is too fucking weird.

One would think that if you had a new & poorly-understood tool, about which nobody was prepared to offer any reliability guarantees, you might try using it for low-stakes things for a while & take some notes about that before using it for obviously life-or-death stuff.

New from 404 Media: Microsoft and nuclear power company Westinghouse Nuclear want to use AI to speed up the construction of new nuclear power plants in the United States.

"may lead [..] to catastrophic nuclear consequences" and distrust of nuclear tech

Power Companies Are Using AI To Build Nuclear Power Plants
Tech companies are betting big on nuclear energy to meet AIs massive power demands and they're using that AI to speed up the construction of new nuclear power plants.

I reskeeted first and *then* asked. I have my priorities.

The joke is solid. I did not mean to disparage it.

Would the kitniyot prohibition have been a thing for any of us within his lifetime? I thought it was a later innovation but I'm *extremely* fuzzy on the history.

Wait actually what if someone organized a speed dating event with a poster session or something? Has this been tried?

It's arguably about "protecting" women and girls in the sense of securing and controlling access to valuable or important resources, not in the sense of defending the autonomy or welfare of persons.

More "definitely raped, but not in a *weird* way".

Reactionaries care more about whether it's freaky than they do about sexual violence qua violence. I'm not exaggerating. Once you understand that this is how they think, so many other things fall into place.

[puts on queer radical feminist hat]

I think this is related to Megyn Kelly's not-technically-a-pedophile remarks.

Reactionary patriarchy only cares about sorting "normal" from "deviant".

It doesn't care about sufficiently *normal* kinds of violence, abuse, coercion, harm, etc.
I cannot begin to properly articulate how upsetting it is to have had people baselessly accuse trans people of being groomers and pedophiles only for it to come out that they were deliberately doing this as part of a project to provide cover to actual groomers and pedophiles in positions of power

It's "protect" in the sense of "secure valuable property or dangerous resources" not "protect" in the sense of "defend the welfare of actual people with their own wants and needs".

It's about keeping women "safe" in something like the way Gandalf meant it when he told Frodo to keep the ring "safe".

Turns out their approach to "protecting Jews" is a lot like their approach to "protecting women".
In the name of protecting Jews, Jews have their funding cancelled, get kicked out of seminars, and are removed from leadership positions in Jewish Studies to be replaced by non-Jews.
