Howdy folks! Seems as good a time as any to reintroduce myself to new followers. I'm Pragmatic Magic. And, to put it succinctly, I make monsters. If that's your kind of thing, stick around! Several new builds are in progress now, and I can't wait to share what's cooking.

Behind the figure is the idiot who made it. To the left of this image is a costume photo. It is of a monster made of several things. A wolf skull emerges from the main mouth, who's jaw is broken and torn. Multiple dead eyes stare blankly forward. The final image is of two costumes. Their faces are flesh masks, stretched over face sheilds. Filthy aprons cover the bodies. Gloved hands reach forward to welcome you. A collection of 4 identical masks. At the end of the line , there is a plaster mold containing another copy. The latex masks are of a madly grinning face. It's mouth stretched far beyond reasonable. Huge, broken teeth jut outward. Wrinkled skin surround the narrow, smiling eyes. A sculpt of a misshapen head. The top and bottom are separated (it'll be a puppet...eventually). Sets of teeth and eyes seam to be growing from the folds in it's skin. Two photos make up the image. On the left is the front of a mask sculpt. It's head is a patchwork of skin, barely held together. On the top of its head exposed skull is visible. On eye has growths surrounding it, holding it open. Muscles are the only thing holding the bottom jaw in place. The skin of the neck is thin and muscles and bone can be seen beneath it. The left side image is the back of the skull. More thin skin show off the spinal column and shoulder blades. The back of the head is more patwork skin, with a portion of it being a second face awkwardly attached to fill a gap.

Maybe growing up poor did it, but it absolutely blows my mind how wasteful people are. I still pull perfectly good material from the trash. Wood, metal, plastic, functional electronics. Got 45' of fence panels the other day! Why buy something to throw away? Use it or give it to someone in need!

I guess this is technically several works in progress...
A workbench piled high with an assortment of cast and 3d printed parts. Among them are a few sets of hands, a head, and a pile of pieces that will become a spine. There are also mix cups, batteries, a drill press, and several other things littering the space.

When I was planning the Minotaur, I wanted to have removable horns for travel and storage, but they also had LED strips. So how to easily connect the power AND be solidly anchoed? A strong magnet that doubles as a touch power contact!

This is so true it hurts. Have ideas and a goal, but be prepared to make compromises. Sometimes things just dont work like they do in your head.

Hey it works! Added some lights to the giant monster paw sculpture, took me a minute to figure out how to light the eye using a translucent material that wouldn't look corny and had some depth when unlit. Ended up using layers of acrylic with cellophane under a glass cabochon, will post a

A mad scientist costume set I'm working on. There is some arm and hand armor linked by glowing tubing. On the back of the hand, two glowing syringes are emerging from a metal box. Two more syringes, full of green resin, sit next to the armor set. Behind all of it are a glowing gas mask and a set of old-fashioned lab goggles.

I think we're going to finally spruce up our Halloween costumes this year. Pretty happy with the heads still but the rest might get redone.

Went to the artist meet up the other day. Despite my being a half mad hermit, I think it went well. Met some folks, talked a little shop, and planned some projects. It was nice to physically be amongst my people, and I'm excited to do it again.
Now, more than ever, it's good to find community.

I know others have likely said this, but the point and the joy in art is that it is problem solving in action. It is watching your improvement piece by piece and creating a personal visual language

😆 Sorry for being obnoxious about this.. but I'm going to be obnoxious. I really want to get most of these sold! Haven't gotten to ship anything out in a fat minute and I'd like to see more go to new homes. The sooner I sell out, the sooner I can close!
