Today, Shane O’Neill, our interim Principal announced the University of Dundee needs to cut 632 jobs to be financially sustainable.
Also there are 237 vacancies (in part due to the recruitment freeze since Nov).

Today, Shane O’Neill, our interim Principal announced the University of Dundee needs to cut 632 jobs to be financially sustainable.
Also there are 237 vacancies (in part due to the recruitment freeze since Nov).
That’s 870 colleagues from 3200. OVER A QUARTER!

X banned a Turkish journalist’s account because the Turkish government wanted it to. His posts can no longer be seen from Turkey. The journalist was publishing open source documents about ongoing trade relations between Turkey and Israel (therefore exposing the govt.’s hypocrisy about Palestine)

Is it just me, or is it not far more terrifying that the deaths of all those babies were due to significant deficiencies in the healthcare system (e.g., substandard care, lack of staff, etc.)?!

This article underestimates the number of job losses (already reported elsewhere to have exceeded 10,000) and employs the misleading adjective 'leading' universities (meaning what, to whom?), but if you've been living under a rock and need a quick introduction to the topic, you could start here.
