If I came from a family that has held a seat in House of Lords for 7 generations and used it to protect their vast empire from Tax and Inheritance Tax.

I really don't think the USA can survive all this nonsense intact.
I doubt very much that the next set of elections will be free and fair. If so there won't another for a generation. This will possibly cause blue states to leave, or attempt to, which will be fraught with peril.
