I like the LA Sparks, Everton FC, indie rock, and psychological thriller/horror novels. Say hi to your dog for me. Dayton, OH.
This is quite easily the second-worst day of my adult life. It's times like these when I'm glad no one I know reads Bluesky, because things are extra bad, and despite the "only one way to go" optimism of my friends, I'm well and truly fucked. 🤣 Good chat, up the Toffees.

Oh no, I learned ChatGPT. I have eight personas, two of which are exceptional: my secretary, Veronica Park, who is much more patient at emails, and Lisa, who gives me LA Sparks knowledge without spoilers. Accidentally saw that we won, but she’ll keep me off social media next time! Watching now.

Bueckers annoying Carrington is my favorite buddy cop duo in the WNBA, and the fact that already-terrible Dallas traded DiJonai (even though she might win a ring) is inexplicable to me. Still salty about the lottery. Kelsey Plum’s been a great addition to the Sparks, but Paige is a star and a half.

Late night WNBA on the roof is one of my few pleasures these days. Even though I root for the Sparks. What’s the point of a roof otherwise?

Hi, void. Not having a dog anymore sucks. (She is alive and well; I just don't have her, for reasons.) Any tips? I think volunteering at an animal shelter would be too raw right now.

Doing a Bluesky test. Had a busy week, and missed nearly all of the #WNBA action. I generally watch every game, since the app does spoiler-free full replays. What’d I miss? Any particularly great (or concerning) performances, other than the finals matchup is clearly Lynx-Liberty?

“Strong men also cry” —Me, about to watch Everton’s final men’s home match at Goodison Park. I cried less at my Mom’s funeral. #COYB #EvertonFC #ThePeoplesClub

Sparks might not be excellent this year (though I could see us fighting for the 4 seed), but holy crap Kelsey Plum looks happy to be here. Wow. Yeah, it's the Valkyries, but that could be a classic fit of player and team. #WNBA

WNBA in two days, the most wonderful time of the year. Even as a Sparks fan. I'm taking a mini-vacation in June to see them in Chicago and Indianapolis. My body is ready, my Brink jersey is flashy, her ACL looks healthy, she may have dropped the SI pics this evening coincidentally....

Does anyone know if David Moyes have a favorite candy or snack? I’d love to buy him a gift basket for showing me how to enjoy life again! #EvertonFC #NSNO #UTFT

In Moyes we trust! I’m still fucking terrified as always, the transfer window sucked, and Leicester feels like a classic trap game…but UTFT all the same. Optimistic for the first time since Carlo.

Jeezy petes, that Grover Cleveland motherfucker's gonna be President on Monday, isn't he?

Ah jeez, it’s really hitting that I’m leaving CA for Dayton in exactly four weeks. I think the firenados near where I grew up in SoCal are a metaphor for something. My new neighbors will force me to root for the Buckeyes in college ball, but I’m Lakers and Sparks forever.

Gonna see if he has any stock tips for 2040.

Right, the Merseyside Derby is canceled today, which means Everton can’t lose! That’s one way to ease the December fixtures.

It’s hard to describe what a king tide is like, except I’ve glimpsed our climate future. The ocean has risen several feet since high tide a few hours ago. That hill I’m on is getting eroded AF.

Independent bookstores are cool AF. I bought a yellowed Ross Macdonald paperback in Fort Bragg for $4, and I'm gonna read it next to the ocean tomorrow.

Driving up CA-1 to Shelter Cove, with stops in Fort Bragg and the drive-thru tree in Leggett. No cell service, even less WiFi, CA's remotest brewery, my favorite lighthouse, a colony of sea lions--*and deadly waves*! The adventurous David Mattenborough might even make a surprise reappearance....
