Why did we have to learn p:q::x:y for the SATs? What were they testing? I can see logical and proportional reasoning, but my 25 years ago memory says they had sentences that we had to figure out some relationship between. Whyyyy?

Does anyone else have an internal conflict about using a laser pointer to play with your cat? Sweet Pea loves to chase it and it's light so she never catches it and I'm worried about her self-esteem.
