Denmark just flew 5 people over 300 km in an all-electric plane—in under an hour. ⚡✈️ It recharged in 30 mins and emitted zero CO₂. It’s not just a test—it’s step one in Denmark’s bold plan: 100% fossil-free domestic flights by 2030. The skies are changing. #ElectricFlight #Denmark #EVaviation #EVTOL
The future of flight? First electric aeroplane lands in Denmark
The plane can be charged using a standard fast charger for electric cars in just 20 to 40 minutes, the company says. Experts say airports will need to gradually expand charging infrastructures for electric aircraft.

Beautiful read on imposter syndrome and not giving into your fears!
Hypervelocity impacts, Fortran code, and the existential dread of a systematic error in your Pluto model... This isn't just a love letter to a dwarf planet; it's a deeply relatable story about the beautiful, brutal process of turning data into discovery. ❤️

Such delicate wings!
Ant Lion that we found hanging out in @crytzerfry.bsky.social garage. These insects are mostly known for their predatory larva which build sand pits to trap passing insects, like ants. Ecology of adults is understudied and not well know.

These white eared bulbul parents are stressed out with the baby fallen out of the nest! They've been like this for more than half an hour. I can't locate their nest and the baby can only fly so high up the grills before he slips back down

This is the stuff I live for
I just feel strongly that a journal with NATURALIST in its name should publish a little old-school natural history, as a treat. Tell me about a weird thing you saw a bug do. Describe the mating behavior of some some gastropods.

So cool! İt's used extensively in South East Asian cooking too
Bright green food in Asia is made with pandan leaves, Pandanus amaryllifolius. It has an amazing story: Known originally from the Molucca islands of Indonesia, it is now extinct in the wild. It is a cultigen - a crop plant known only in cultivation. Thanks to @acidlich.bsky.social for the reminder.

Where to begin? He's Practically Perfect in Every Way!
Please enjoy this ridiculously cute butterfly, which was about the size of my pinkie fingernail. It's in the butterfly family called metalmarks (Riodinidae). Males, like these, have reduced front legs and perch using only the rear 4 (females can use all 6). Sarota acantus; Costa Rica 🐙🌿 #insects

Jellyfish are one of the most magical creatures, and they’ve got the aesthetics to match
Very happy to have seen my first crystal jelly of the year - they were once rare to see in the uk but are now common around #Cornwall in the summer.

This thread goes out to the 'Birds Aren't Real' crowd. The "horned screamer" (Anhima cornuta) appears to be an early prototype with a visible antenna.

They're called "screamers" because they 'scream' at anything new or troubling & I find that so relatable.

For some species of cichlids, home is where the mom is - literally! Female mouth-brooding cichlids incubate their eggs in their mouths. Some species continue to provide protection for juveniles after they hatch, sending out cues when danger is around for them to return to her mouth #SundayFishSketch

I will forever be haunted by this footage.

Trawling has only been filmed underwater a few times in documentary history, and never with such clarity.

What’s so heart-rending about these shots is watching how the animals don’t just get swept up — they swim for their lives.

An object that shrinks as you pull it? This is physically possible! All you need is a piece of rubber with a weird shape. This is just mechanics and geometry.

This discovery reveals phenomena that defy intuition, and unlocks functionalities that could not yet be achieved in mechanical systems.
