I don't expect to be followed back. When I find your stuff interesting, I don't necessarily expect you to find my stuff interesting.

That photo is fake. It's not me. But also, basically, it is.
Is anyone even bothering to go tell a bunch of stupid lies to the UNSC?

Like, in 2003 I thought it was all stupid bullshit, but they put a lot of work into the stupid bullshit. It was a huge thing that swept a lot of people up. Here, is there anything at all?

Is there some huge propaganda effort churning along, building the case for this war, and I'm just somehow deaf to it because I'm not watching the right TV shows or reading the right bloggers?

Elon turned on a "show this user's location" feature on Twitter expecting he'd expose all his enemies as bots and sockpuppet accounts

instead he revealed all his right-wing allies as bots and sockpuppet accounts

he revealed that the fucking DHS account runs from Israel

Beefing? Wth autocorrect.

On like two seconds reflection, I suppose it's obvious. Mamdani wasn't stuck with a gender that DT is unable to take seriously.
November 22, 2025 at 5:19 PM
So what I'd like to understand is, how does Whitmer go meet with him and end up being photographed pathetically trying to cover her face with a beefing book, and Mamdani visits him and poses the creep in front of a portrait of FDR?

How'd he play DT like a fiddle when Whitmer got played?
November 22, 2025 at 5:17 PM
Haven't seen that yet, but this is all moving fast and I'm not seeing everything.

Depending on the details, that could be pretty bad and some freaking out may be appropriate.

This reminds me of people who threw little tantrums about Harris being nice to Liz Cheney.

Who, IIUC , gave Harris her support in exchange for exactly zero policy concessions.

ZM can pose for photos in which DT is clearly awed/charmed by him. I won't flip out until I see policy concessions.

You're absolutely right, to an extent. In the colonial era it was a majority view, and it remained strong up through the War of Treason in Defense of Slavery.

But that was an awfully long time ago and for most Americans, their identity as American is more salient than their state citizenship.
November 22, 2025 at 1:26 AM
I've lived all over this country and I've never in my life heard anyone say anything like "I'm a [citizen of my state] first and an American second. Maybe if you ask around you could find it in Texas, but I lived there for some time and never stumbled across it.
November 22, 2025 at 1:16 AM
You're conflating two very different things. You don't have to think of yourself as, say, a Californian first and an American second to want federal officers to respect the limits of their offices.

That kind of state-citizen-firat thinking is at least a century out of date.
November 22, 2025 at 1:14 AM
You sure called it. I hadn't seen this, but if I had I'd have thought you were crazy. Here we are, though.

I'ma go ahead and vote anyway, thanks.

We must have spent a full week talking about "Manifest Destiny" and I don't see what was so complicated about it. You can get the whole concept in like 30 seconds:

"We are strong enough to murder these people and take their land. We therefore think that it's God's will that we do so."

I'm not certain, as a HS grad, that I even understood that big parts of the Southwest had once been Mexico, and certainly had no idea of how shamefully the US acquired that territory.

I did learn the names of more Confederate generals than I really needed to know.

My 7yo has started asking questions about US history and I see now that my options are "lie extensively by omission" or "radicalize him."

Somehow I emerged from public school thinking that the US had never fought a war of conquest. 7yo is going to get a better education than I got.

This is the way.

And he gives an annoyed scowl, as if to say "the hell are YOU looking at."

And his eyes bulge out of their sockets. Half again the usual size. Like a cartoon character.

The light changes, we break eye contact, and I go about my life.
November 20, 2025 at 4:27 AM
I don't believe in weird shit. But.

This one time I'm driving home. And I'm stopped at a light behind another car.

I'm looking ahead, like you do. And I happen to make eye contact with the driver in the car ahead of me, in his rearview mirror.

Five quatloos says the Senate passes this quickly.
November 20, 2025 at 2:41 AM
Are you sure this isn't passing the Senate? It was unanimous in the house. That suggests to me that even Republicans can see that this is a bad look.

As for the Senate, it's one thing to vote to end the shutdown and slip this in the endnotes, and quite another as a standalone bill.

This writing is seriously unhinged. I can't imagine how any litigant that this guy perceives as to his left could expect any kind of fair treatment in that courtroom. The guy has stage four Fox Geezer Syndrome.
