Canada just announced a plan to spend up to CAD $2B over five years to build out sovereign AI infra. $700M for private partnerships, $1B to build AI infra, and $300M to subsidize costs on existing private infra.

This is a super-informative post, but I have so many questions! Biggest one is: what about 16-bit precision? Surprised to see a chip clearly marketed for training focus on FP8 and sparsity.
This is worthy of note: "Trn2 instances offer 30-40% better price performance than the current generation of GPU-based EC2 P5e and P5en instances."
