In that sense, because of its openness I expect (maybe it’s a hope!) faster adoption esp. in non-US geos like SE Asia, Europe, etc.

Again, standardization is key. As @jonmasters.bsky.social says “make it boring” and make it such that “it just works”

The challenge to RISC-V as a serious server class CPU is - 1/ someone (more than 1) needs to build it 2/ it needs to be standardized like x86 3/ it should be easily programmable 4/ ease of transition should be high and lastly 5/ highly performant.

Speed matters, HPC will want the last bit of performance it can extract from the CPU, GPU, Accelerator.
