There are quality of life improvements here and there. There are opportunities to convert your soulslike (read: losable) currency into items that can be redeemed for a slightly lower amount of currency, allowing you to preserve it when dealing with challenging areas.

But: outside of the questionable difficulty pacing and design there’s still so much to love. I find repeated quick hops to be adorable and somehow they make run backs more fun. And I have to cackle when I suffer an embarrassing death while frazzled and impatient.

I felt Hunter’s March was out of place in terms of difficulty and it highlighted questionable design choices to me. The gateway was a simple yet punishing (2 mask damage, something that used to be reserved for optional and endgame bosses in the original) boss.

The combat and movements feel more acrobatic and fluid than the first game’s Knight which is exactly what you’d expect from the original Hornet boss battles. I love seeing the details of all the various rapid motion animations which ooze style.

Finished the #Run #Houston Clear Lake #10k on Sunday. We’re in a bit of a heat wave which concerned me but I managed to only slow down while rehydrating, a big improvement from last event this year plus this event last year. That’s the last one until Fall, can’t wait!

Made homemade ragu for lunch yesterday, turned out great! It never really occurred to me that ragu was an actual thing outside of the sauce brand at grocery stores. Followed damndelicious.net/2018/08/03/i... but subbed in different type of pasta and added the mozzarella topping.

Saw Jonathan Van Ness at #Improv #Houston with friends last night, loved the show and appreciated something very political without a doomy aftertaste. Before the show went to Red Robin and had a ridiculous and excellent Lava Queso burger that reminded me of Bernie’s Burger Bus.

Finished the Run #Houston Vintage Half Marathon this morning. Really not great results and I’m basically dead in this photo, but I’m happy to have finished it. I know what to improve on my way to the next Run Houston event in May, looking forward to that!

Visited Jinya Ramen bar today and decided to focus on the appetizers at the bar rather than the usual ramen. All the food was excellent and this was the first time I really got to appreciate the takoyaki; usually it’s too filling coupled with ramen.

Snapped this 4 years ago today. Some say a peanut butter shell with peanut butter filling is too much. I say I’ll take this and add a healthy dollop of Peter Pan creamy peanut butter on top.

Great lunch today at Fulshear’s FieldHouse Pub & Grill. Much more interested in bar food than actual games and it was quiet which suited us well. I feel like every course stood out equally in flavor and a lot of these items were things I haven’t seen offered locally. Eager for more.

Ran the H-Town Half Marathon this morning. Wasn’t as well trained as I’d hoped to be going in but was pleased with the results and didn’t slow to a walk. Local running trails are mostly flat whereas this course had quite a few slopes. #Running #HalfMarathon #Jogging #Race

Visited the newly opened Mulan JoJo’s China Bistro today. I loved how the pan fried dumplings had that perfect crisp, and surprisingly so did the shrimp. My dish was the beef stir fry and the density of flavors was incredible. Looking forward to another visit. #Food #FoodSky 🍜🥟🌶️
