This is petty and vindictive madness! My college experience was immensely better because I was able to interact with many international students. My world view was broadened far beyond what I knew growing up in a small rural community. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/22/u...

"I was saved by God to make America great again" - DJT I won't argue, but was it Isfet, Egyptian God of chaos, disorder, and injustice...maybe it was Owuo, the Death of Creation to the Ewe of Ghana...perhaps it was Balor, leader of the Irish sea-demons the Fomorians?

Our new album from my band the Wineskins comes out soon. Stay tuned!

Music notation software question: I used to use Finale before they folded. I know this is subjective, but I'm comparing Dorico, Sibelius, and Musescore. Composers/arrangers, what do y'all like/hate about these?

I really like Bluesky as an alternative to the greed-driven worlds of Meta and X, but I can't get traction on any posts here. I've posted content related to politics, gardening, music, empathy...crickets. I've tried hashtags. I always add alt-text...nothing. I sound whiny, but zero engagement?

Side-by-side screenshots of the National Park Service's Stonewall National Monument captured on February 10 and 13, 2025. Following a directive from Musk/Trump LGBTQ is now LGB, attempting to erase references to transgender and queer. We won't forget!

Yes I do have an iPhone, but I’m experimenting with alternatives to Google. So far I’m finding Ecosia to work just fine. They seem to be a good company that cares about the environment (I’m suspicious of everything these days). I just set it as my default search engine: iPhone >Settings>Search

“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice” - MLK paraphrasing Unitarian minister Theodore Parker. Maybe, but right now, it feels like a pendulum or 1 step forward 97 steps back. Still trying to hold onto the hope of the Parker quote though...

To the "Trump has done more in two weeks than other presidents did in 4 years!" crowd: When I was renovating my old house, knocking out drywall and gutting the place was quick and easy. Building back with better structure took time and skill. Destroying systems isn't the show of power you think.

While bird flu is relatively low risk for songbirds, they can help spread it to chickens, ducks, etc. Consider cleaning your bird feeders. It's probably a good idea to routinely clean them, regardless of disease.

I recorded this a few years ago, but the last two weeks make this feel more appropriate than ever. What are you doing to find balance amidst the chaos? I have started seeds indoors for early germination. Can’t wait to #garden again! #koyaanisqatsi #phillipglass #violadagamba #bass #trombone

In seeing posts about certain areas with the highest number of flu outbreaks, etc. and the CDC not being allowed to disseminate outbreak data (as I understand it), how is this type of information being shared? When I see that county X has so many cases of Z, who's compiling and sharing this?

Half of the country is going around blaming DEI for everything. Stubs toe - DEI; Can't find your keys - DEI; Cashier rings up the wrong price for your energy drink - DEI! Come on people. This is ridiculous. I'm sure most of the loudest voices don't even understand what DEI means.

Take a short break from #doomscrolling and enjoy some #harp music. This tune is Niel Gow’s Lament on the Death of His Second Wife. Scottish composer Gow lived from 1727-1807.
