The West Roxbury & Roslindale Street Railway Company operated this wacky streetcar with a perfectly cylindrical interior. Ever seen one of these before @interurbanera.bsky.social?

Well well well look what they were handing out at the transitmatters booth at JP open streets

Found another angle… do they come as whitewalls? Lol

I think the factory tires should’ve been 17” x 650, so this looks a lot fatter. I’m surprised a tubeless tire would work on what looks like an original wheel tho

Most of the needham cr line is single-tracked. Assuming you’d need to add at least two tracks to extend the green line would mean replacing like 8 bridges (including over 128). Also not clear if the existing ROW through needham is wide enough at all

10 mins? I also caught the same thing going inbound right before (and would’ve had a nice trio except the outbound train decided to stop)

This remained a problem until the development corded tires and carbon black as an additive for rubber. Something like 60% of auto maintenance expense was replacing blown pneumatic tires. Lots of wild designs for “resilient” airless wheels

The video doesn’t capture the exact moment the chevy’s light turns red, but you can trust that even an American traffic engineer wouldn’t give a walk signal conflicting with a green light. A few moments later you can see the red signals for the Chevy
