As a progressive Kentuckian from a rural area-and there are lots of us-we are fed up with liberal elites explaining what we mean.

He knows his audience. He is reaching out to rural folks without a college degree. He is showing he isn’t a liberal elite.

What other topics do you think high school juniors should know about this topic?

I want this unit to include Johnstown and other death cults, Ruby Ridge, Waco, the militia movement and the Oklahoma City Bombing. I have never gotten this far in the curriculum before. What are your suggestions for primary or secondary sources I could use for this unit?

I have a question for you. I am a high school history teacher who uses inquiry based lessons. I would like our last unit of the year to be built around this compelling question: What happens when Americans distrust democracy? Our units usually include 4 supporting questions per unit.
