I suspect people feel like they’ve earned their paycheck; but you’re confused because so-called billionaires don’t have that cash. They’re just exploiting a loophole to rent out stock.

People seem to be taking this question as something it’s not; I’m not even a New Yorker. I’m just trying to understand. You all get so caught up on which side people are on that you forget to ask questions that everybody can benefit from.

They say they are going to lose money on real estate. My questions are:
1. How much money are they losing?
2. Who is keeping that money instead of them?
3. Why are they losing the money?
4. Why so scared?
It doesn’t seem like they’re scared that rent will simply go down, the fear seems bigger.

I’m asking because I’m honestly curious. I know I’ve got the bots angry. But I’m hearing this from a lot of people on both sides, both in New York and outside of New York, and it’s interesting because the real estate people are really angry about it in a way that I don’t understand, and I want to.
