I like that I can make a short 10 second video like this, but I find myself wanting to create screenplays and not being able to because the technology doesn’t exist.

Imagine what open source would do to Movie Studios.

Test case: Standard formatted script as input, finished movie .mpeg as output.

My CEO surprised me with saying I can hire the team number I want to add. But I had to do the work of hiring them.

This summary of the difference between remote work and on-site work for software development engineers really clears up any ambiguity on the difference between remote, hybrid and onsite.

This is one of the systems that used to be part of the distributed compiler that would help me keep my home warm in winter.

I have no idea why this is, but I'm thankful.

Part of me feels like I don't deserve this; all I've done is make random videos about things that interest me.

Thank you.

A lot of the women I have dated have been artists, so I have a lot of respect for the sufferings that an artist must learn form to be better artists. But as an engineer, I still want to find a better way to allow people to express themselves, without the need for suffering to do it... So I use code.

The reason we don't see a lot of artistic pursuits in Star Trek is that the replicators and the holodeck exists in that world; as a result when you can create art - like I did this in a few seconds using stable diffusion - that puts the onus on the value of art as being personal and not economic.
