I wasn't online yesterday so I'll just say today that Netflix suck so fucking bad. They are an enemy of cinema and of community. They have been since their "innovations" shut down video stores far and wide at the end of the 00s, and they continue to show their only interest is to consume film spaces

I'm so damn stoked for the new Panahi. I just watched NO BEARS (2022), and it is absurd and chaotic, which is what I'd expect from the new one as well, based on the trailer alone.

Anyway, I finished OUT 1 today. Took me only 3 days, no biggie, I'd do anything for Rivette.

I just watched a movie that shook me to my core. Truly seismic, challenging the notion of logical, coherent, and linear filmmaking.

That award show has become a punchline tbh... Challengers was released later than Dune Part Two, so why did one make it and the other not? truly baffling

“The biggest hurdle is getting people to read about these [small] films. Critics can publish reviews, but if they’re not being read then the point is moot. In that sense, the necessity of discovery is also incumbent upon the reader too.”
"The future of cinema lies in rekindling the necessity of discovery."

For this @ebertvoices.bsky.social future of the movies, I wrote about the need to find some way to write about small films and new filmmakers.
