I have a suggestion for you. In times of trouble and strife, there is therapeutic benefit in being among trees and in physical contact with them. So if you can, go hug a tree today, the bigger the better. This huge old chinkapin oak is known as The Great God Tree.

Lest we think that everyone hugs trees: I teach field courses for everyone from toddlers to adults. Many people are reluctant to hug or even touch a tree, and I have to persuade them. I teach 6-year olds to measure trees by wrapping their arms around them, but some parents are worried.
