Political hobbyist. "Buyer's Remorse" will be the most repeated phrase in the American lexicon in 2025.

I was a medic at the Santa Ana protests in OC today.

I watched police fire tear gas, flash bangs, & rubber bullets into crowds of men, women, & children.

Other medics and I were clearly marked with red crosses, and the police were targeting us.

One of the most fucked up things I’ve ever seen.

This is good. I'm tired of people telling me I'm catastrophizing or crying liberal tears. I'm almost 62, and processing the consequences of what's about to happen to us has been gutwrenching, esp when you understand why for so many around the world, we really were the "shining city on a hill."
In the last 10 days, we've heard from a lot of male pundits and very-online dudes and even when the analysis is smart, very little space given to how women are processing. I tried to put it into words. Mostly one: FURY www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
Of misogyny, Musk, and men
Women are not okay. We're furious.

That’s the quote. I was looking for it. And here it is. Hannah Arendt on the Matt Gaetz as AG announcement
'This process includes the replacement of all first-rate talents, regardless of their political loyalties, with crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is the best guarantee of their loyalty.' (The Origins of Totalitarianism, renewed version, A Harvest Book New York, 1976, 339)

We will learn more over the coming weeks, but this is an eye-opener.
One thing I didn't grasp completely was the depth of pure hatred people like Hegseth have for "the left."
Caffeinated from a late night drive and freaked out by *how* bad the coverage of Trump Sec Def Pete Hegseth is, I decided to start reading his new book, The War on Warriors. A thread. The new Pentagon chief begins by bragging he was pushed out for being an "extremist"... 1/
