So vegetation in video games is kind of important these days. We can't get away with just putting a green texture on the ground and saying it's grass anymore - but, placing all the plants takes ages. Unity has tools to paint vegetation on terrain but what if you're not using terrain?

Yeah so, a lot of 'level design' is just shoving a bunch of prefabs into a scene. They can look pretty awful from the 'outside'. #metroidvania #unity #gamedev

I posted earlier what this looked like for mockup. The next step is to put together some basic prefabs and 'skin' the major pieces. Still a lot of work to go here.

indie games aren't supposed to look like polished mass-distributed products, they're meant to look like you hammered them together in a shed and did your best even though you can't draw good, and you did it because you loved it.
