I've long struggled with imposter syndrome. I've now encountered an actual imposter through my professional experience and oh boy I had nothing to worry about.

I took a nap today after my flu shot. My dog definitely ran up to me, licked my ear and ran away. I guess we are discovering his sense of humor.

We got fewer than 20 trick or treaters tonight, including a middle aged Chinese woman walking her dog.

I completely dropped the ADHD masking this week at work while handling a crisis and it can be downright terrifying for those people who are used to the masked version of me.

30 years ago today, I remember going with my parents and grandparents to vote in the referendum. Our car was ready to go that night with our important things. If things went differently, that night we were running away to stay Canadian. I remember it so clearly.

LotR is straightforwardly a narrative about the virtues of multiculturalism because everyone being isolated and alone will just get picked off by Sauron but the DEI fellowship have what it takes.

I spent an hour pulling up all the weeds and invasive plants in my small garden plot out front and just put down 5 varietals of garlic. Wish me luck - I even labeled the different varietals.

My job is remote, my office is in another province 2 provinces away. I've spent this week in the office and doing fieldwork.
I'm absolutely exhausted and it was not a productive week. I'm glad I visited but I'm very excited to get home.

When I worked in tourism, I experienced burnout several times. The masking, stressful quotas, abusive clients, and unrealistic demands wore me down.
As a scientist, I go about my days unmasked and let my special interests shine. They are valued. What a difference it makes. Let my freak flag fly!

Met the director of the research institute in person today for the first time. Our only real conversation thus far was the job interview.
"Tell me an interesting fact."
I babble on about mushrooms that deliquesce.
