Known as ‘Bird Lady’ for her beak-like nose.

The Colosseum.
Construction began in AD 72 under the Emperor Vespasian as part of an imperial effort to revitalise Rome after the tumultuous year of the four Emperors (AD 69) and was completed in AD 80 under his successor and heir Emperor Titus.

A Greek rattle in the shape of a boy riding on a #pig. Taranto, 3rd c. BC.
Rattles such as this were used as toys, but the sound produced by the small pieces of clay or stones inside the animals was also intended to ward off any evil. Rattles have been found in children's graves, but...🧵1/2
