Heffers, in my case. I only knew the African and Oriental Studies department, though, where it was usually a thrill to sell any book.

Oh, yes! Late 70s for me. Plus, stock-checking manually using file cards, once a month. We could always recognise books by their spines and remember where they were on the shelf, rather than having to look them up first for each enquiry.

I recommend boxes from your local bicycle shop. Cut off and throw out the stapled sections. Heavier duty and nice big pieces with no packing tape.
