Wine marketing gone crazy: at my allotment, chard is a good thing & not a crime.

The last of this year’s allotment cosmos, I suspect, but there will be seed to collect. It might not grow true white next year, there was pink cosmos nearby, but it’s something to look forward to.

Yesterday I planted Milium effusum Aureum (Bowles’ Golden Grass) to brighten a dark space in my garden. Seems to be working.

Torquay train station has remarkably glamorous gardens, maintained by volunteers. I’m just a little jealous… #gardening

Why, yes, there IS a woodcarving shop in Torquay. Why are you even asking?

It’s been a good year for the cosmos….
Many blooms still linger there.
The lawn could stand another mowowow,
Funny, I don’t even care.

Someone wanted to see just how big an allotment courgette could grow, so I’ve left this one alone. The variety is called Striata, and it won’t be such good eating, but t someone will be happy. #allotmentlife

My #allotment garlic has come out surprisingly well, but I’m almost as proud of my ragweed destroyers: cinnabar moth caterpillars.

Bought some plants at the local fair at Charlton House: verbena Bampton, Melina altissima alba, geranium phaem, fennel innominata, eurybia divaricata. Oh joy! #gardening

The flaw in using home-made compost to supplement the bought peat-free seed compost is the number of volunteer seeds coming up. I might start my tomatoes again, I can’t tell which is which. #allotment

Gardened at my local train station. Primroses there, too!

There’s still 2022 marmalade in the cupboard, so maybe it was silly to make a batch now. But Seville oranges are so seasonal! And I had a grapefruit and lemons from @crowdfarming.bsky.social, so Three-fruit Marmalade it is.

The living room is slowly getting emptied ahead of redecorating. The first time since 2001, and hoo boy it needs it.

Hard to tell what’s sock and what’s mend.
🧶The Now Gallery, Greenwich Prninsula, for Celia Pym’ show, ‘Socks: the art of care and repair’. And there are socks that anyone can have a go with, plus mending workshops coming up.
