When I was 16, we learned about Australia in school. Here is the extent of the notes I took one day.

Norwegian low-church aesthetics. I don’t know how many gatherings I’ve been here for over the years. Confirmations. Funerals. Birthday parties. Christmas parties. And more. It’s such an important place for small, rural communities like the one where I grew up.

I am pretty happy with the new artwork for my office. Purchased at a suburban antique mall in Kansas this summer. I just love the artwork in magazines from back then.

In a 1984 letter, R. J. Rushdoony commented on the dangers of eugenics and how Mankind Quarterly mainstreamed such ideas in academic circles. At least R. was right about this stuff. From: blumenfeld.campconstitution.net/Other/Rev%20...

Random find: how conservatives in 1960 viewed trade unions. The Springfield (Missouri) Leader and Press, March 30, 1960, 16.

I can’t get over this picture of Billy Graham in shorts and black socks in front of a statue of David Livingstone near Victoria Falls, recording an episode of The Hour of Decision in 1960. From Tom McMahan’s Safari for Souls (1960), which narrated Graham’s 1960 tour of Africa.

A memory from another life in another job. I still can't quite figure out what was going on in this model.

Hipp hipp hooray for the division of powers, rule of law, and habeas corpus! Happy Constitution Day!

I haven’t had a chance to read the entire thing, but Norway’s leading evangelical newspaper (Dagen) seems to embrace breeding babies for church growth.

I found another weird "More like this" section today. Bob Jones ≠ Bridget Jones! Also a great piece, this time by @queenknitter.bsky.social

When you read an interesting article and look to see what's listed as "Related content," it's really not always so related after all. But this is a great piece by @paul-a-anthony.bsky.social!

I made *another* person mad and ended up being the object of an angry column in a conservative Christian newspaper the other day.

I made someone mad. A journalist asked me to comment on an interview where a Christian author said Christians should have many children in order to dominate society. I said it smelled like "positive eugenics" and that it could turn children into weapons in an ideological battle.

I assigned a piece from Human Events (12/28/74) to look at conservative opposition to bilingual ed only to get quite stunned by the advertisements that followed. South African gold stocks! And that next to a piece that warned against “cultural separatism” following bilingual ed.

We discussed the IRS sanctioning of segregation academies in the South in class last week, and I wish I had seen this earlier. You can hardly find a more blatant example of how private Christian schools were established to maintain segregation than this. The State (South Carolina), Feb. 2, 6.

This was a new one--turning an Error 404 situation into a call to conversion. Then again, it is the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, so at least they are on message.

And apropos Feucht: the other day he hung out with his ne new buddy Russel Brand for a new podcast episode.

There’s a lot to say about this take by New Apostolic Reformation worship leader Sean Feucht. But: the world did not see a strong man in Trump or Vance. We saw two bullies.

In today’s class we discussed different takes on the Brown decision and its aftermath, reading works by Leslie Fenwick, Jane Dailey, and @marydudziak.bsky.social, so I just had to bring this book that I picked up in Little Rock a few years back.

Remnants of American soft power are plenty over here. Today I went bowling with my family and saw this. I wonder what it will mean to future Norwegians.

This image: Serial rapist and harasser who walked into women’s locker rooms to “inspect” teen girls and who talked about how hot his teen daughter was surrounded by preteen and teen girls. It’s gross.
