Ann Wellhouse Botanist, rewilder, friendly, California native seed germinator, love San Diego native plants, love San Diego natural habitats, propagate California native plants
A different Prunus: Prunus ilicifolia in the Chaparral here in San Diego. I get some germination by stratifying fresh seed but will try cracking the shells slightly. The trouble for me is keeping seedlings alive. They form several leaves passed the cotyledons & then just die one leaf at a time.

I’m going to follow you because I want to expand our group to include volunteers in neighborhoods bordering public empty spaces that could be restored to native species.
Not sure how to do it yet but am learning.

We partner with Calif. fish and Wildlife that manages the land. It’s state owned not county. It’s an old cattle ranch destroyed by over grazing. CFW loves us. They have no money to do this but let us have water and any of their equipment and train us on the equipment. I grow many of the plants. Fun!
