Got a DM the other week from someone in wrestling about Carlos Silva being a mark who is desperate to be a star. A terminally online man running a second rate company, who so wants to be on WWE Unreal telling Abyss to stop eating Jelly Tots. Probably happy to self sabotage the company for a spot.

Wait.

Nick LoPiccolo, the agent for CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Liv Morgan, & other WWE wrestlers, is an admitted anti-AEW Twitter troll?

And he's been arguing in Dave Meltzer's replies for hours about how "nobody in Hollywood believes" that WBD is paying AEW $185 million/year?

What in the world?!?

Oh yeah AEW should never negotiate with this guy

So Paradigm isn't even negotiating with AEW which is leading to lowered salaries for the talent they represent. If I was a client of this company I would fire them right now and call up Barry Bloom
I'm sorry WHAT?!?!?

This really does not seem like it's in the best interest of his clients at all. Does he actually believe this? That a wrestling company that pays comparable salaries to WWE and sometimes outbids them isn't leverage come contract season?!?

This is all incredibly sketchy.

This is a great thread. Those wilderness years of Sin Cara and Myzteziz were a bit sad (sometimes funny tbh), amazing that he got back to being The Man.
Watching that Mistico entrance again, it really hits me just how it's remarkable that we wound up here. This guy was THE star in lucha libre in the 2000s, arguably bigger in Mexico than any top star was in the US, and he lost everything, and I mean everything, when he left for that WWE run.

Little bit little, year by year, he worked his way back. Frankly, he WILLED his way back. And he took CMLL along with him; it's no coincidence that the promotion is hotter than it's been in a long time because he's back to being the guy he was in the mid-2000's.

So...

The more overtly MAGA-ish WWE gets, does AEW have a chance of siphoning away the company's large Hispanic fanbase?

Last night, between Hangman's promo, Brody King's shirt, and the "Hey WWE! The heritage is not for sale!" flyers being handed out, there was a STRONG message being sent out.

Always remember: WWE made a point not to mention or outwardly associate w/ Trump from 2015-2024ish out of concern that it'd alienate the company's very large Black and Hispanic fanbases to do anything else.

Now they're going full MAGA while a competitor plants a flag as the pro-immigrant company.

What Brody King did on Wednesday was incredible. I won’t forget that moment. I won’t forget hangman cutting his promo in Spanish. He knew American fans were watching. But where he was. That was more important than the tv.
Thank you to both and to AEW.

The storylines aren't even any good.

Specific lines aside, what sticks out to me Re: The Roast of WrestleMania is how little it resembled an actual roast. Any "what'd you expect from a roast, you pussy?" arguments are negated by the targets of most of the ugliest cracks being about people who weren't there, much less working for WWE.
