Governor Hochul announced $25 million is now available through the first round of a new program for land conservation partners to protect and preserve open space in New York State.

American witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) flowers in late fall, often after the first frost, when most of the forest has gone dormant. Its fragrant, spidery yellow blooms provide one last burst of color and a valuable source of nectar for late-season bees and moths.
