In their Table 2, the authors claim to summarize data from our paper and 14 others. But the figures do not come from our study of plants, insects and fungi (how could they?). The authors surely haven’t read, nor understood, our study. But much worse, their data must be considered *fabricated*

Disturbing citation
In 2022, we published a study on *consumers*, i.e. animals and fungi that consume biomass produced by other organisms, e.g. plants.
Now, our paper has been cited in what claims to be a metaanalysis of "Consumer Satisfaction in Live Streaming E-commerce". Far out!

New gall mite species, Fragariocoptes tridentatae Ripka & H.H.K.Bruun, which I found last summer during field work in southern Greenland. It induces really conspicuous galls on Sibbaldia tridentata

It's a 100% bycatch, but I love it anyway 😍

Hvis man vil vide hvor Helvede ligger, kan man tjekke artens udbredelse på GBIF. Det er tankevækkende her i feriesæsonen hvor mange danskere der frivilligt tager til Helvede for at slappe af 😉

Flower bud galls on fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium) were found in Alaska, begging the question whether they ware due an unknown North American gall maker or the circumboreal distribution of the gall midge Dasineura epilobii, widespread in the Palaearctic 🦟 The answer ⬇️

Of course some Platygastridae emerged as well
I hope @parasitoidrex.bsky.social will take a closer look at them in due time :-)
January 19, 2025 at 10:16 AM
I finally got to sort through the parasitoids (Torymidae, Eulophidae, Pteromalidae s.l. etc) that I reared from galls/larvae of Cecidomyiidae during 2024. Now, 38 samples have been sent to my friend Dick Askew for thorough identification. The docu shots are entirely handheld 🤡

2) But science should shouldn't accept their causal explanation ("In Navajo tradition, humans and mice come from different worlds and, therefore, should be kept separate") under the label "indigenous knowledge", as little as it should accept 'four temperaments' caused by imbalanced bodily fluids
January 13, 2025 at 8:14 PM
The label suggests that some people have higher intrinsic value than others. History shows where that idea takes us ….

Indigenous knowledge = how to overkill bison?
January 11, 2025 at 8:25 PM
Well put, Mette. The modern human, arriving in ever new continents, felt connected to nature (just look in the Chauvet Cave), but still overexploited large mammal populations to global extinction

RIP Jimmy Carter, who dared use the word "apartheid" about the situation in Israel-Palestine. Still highly relevant today.

When IKEA makes large clearcuts a Natura 2000 area (only natural regeneration allowed), again replacing it with a planted oak monoculture, Simon Henzell-Thomas claims that IKEA didn't find the "tree composition was as it should be" and that plantations are better for "soil and forest health" HAHAHA

When IKEA clearcuts species-rich mixed forest (hornbeam, bird cherry, oak, beach), not leaving a single retention tree, and replacing it with an oak plantation, Henzell-Thomas claims the forest had "low biological value" and that they "removed invasive species to promote indigenous ones" HAHAHA

Remember "Comical Ali"? Now, IKEA has their own 2024 version, Simon Henzell-Thomas, Global Director Climate & Nature.
IKEA is trying to greenwash its ruthless overexploitation of Romanian forests, as shown in this Danish documentary 🧵

If we as scientists want the society at large to take science seriously, perhaps we should encourage the use of more straight, less hyperbolic, language about it ..... #enthusiasmbias #wordinflation

I agree. Wild nature generally provides as many ecosystem disservices as services, which is why humans always simplify ecosystems to promote certain services
