Generative AI by definition is conformity. It is an averaging of anything you ask of it - quite literally guessing what the most likely version of a thing might be. It is, by definition, mainstream, as is everything it creates old and deeply ideological, as every model trains on similar data.
AI filmmaking is peeing. It’s pooping. It’s throwing up. It’s a new kind of liquid coming out. It’s hated by the establishment. It’s what goes in the toilet. It’s wet. It’s what’s in the bathroom.

So you’re telling me the Wizard of Oz presented itself as a towering force of overwhelming technology, only to be unmasked as just some guy, off-screen?
So apparently, it may turn out that The Wizard of Oz at the Las Vegas Sphere wasn’t entirely made in AI and Google threw the VFX crew under the bus by claiming it was all done by artificial intelligence.

If true, then fucking yikes.

1. There ARE people who still want to *just* listen to your show (and not watch!)

2. Being indie and niche is more powerful than ever and YES, there are advertisers / audiences out there for you

Theme park urbanism — we’d lure you in with a collection of vehicles from Disneyland rides, and then hit you with exhibits on civil engineering, public transit, and walkability in American life.

I am a podcast producer in a movie. I use my phone to record conversations happening 10+ feet away and the audio comes out perfect.
I am a critic in a movie about the arts. I live in an immense big-city apartment or a very attractive old house that I own. I am only seen eating in fancy restaurants. I enjoy breaking the hearts of artists, especially at public events that are supposed to be about them.
I’m a writer in a film. my agent has no life and will abandon Thanksgiving dinner with their family to fly 4 hours and drink half a bottle of wine with me on the sidewalk outside a restaurant because I feel sad.

It’s a shame Tom Lehrer never accomplished much. Why, when Mozart was his age, he’d been dead for 62 years!

RIP to one of the greats.

I learned “The Elements” when I was probably … eight or nine? I can still do it. Some things never leave you. Thank you thank you thank you to this grump genius who did whatever he wanted, including putting his music into the public domain. “The Vatican Rag” and “Silent E”? A life.
Tom Lehrer, Musical Satirist With a Dark Streak, Dies at 97
A mathematician by training, he acquired a devoted following with songs that set sardonic lyrics to music that was often maddeningly cheerful.

Did Mark Zuckerberg ever care about community?

@karaswisher.bsky.social says no—he’s always been focused on power, control, and profit.

You've inherited a movie theater, what's your first double feature?

I say a version of this a lot. A lot of non-listeners and infrequent listeners assume podcasts are — by default — just a couple bros, shooting the shit with no prep.

And you ~can~ find that, if you’re into that sort of thing.

But SO many people are doing cooler, better things with this medium
When I was spinning up Post Games, a bunch of people (with love) told me it’s a terrible time to launch a podcast. But what I’ve learned is it’s a terrible time to launch a BAD podcast.

I’ve listened to so many new shows over the last few months and we’re in a golden age of formats and voices
