Making noise, having adventures, striving to be kind, and teaching kids to do the same. She/her. Chicago.
What is your family's weirdest beloved holiday tradition? Mine may very well be the annual hanging of this ornament: a Little Caesar's coupon that expired in January of 1990.

Still recovering from last week's amazing HONK! Festival with Clamor & Lace Noise Brigade and Yes Ma'am Brass Band. I love the activist brass community and the people who welcome us into *their* communities to play and rage and create joy together.

Indivisible Chicago Northwest Side has been hosting lovely protest bracelet-making sessions at local libraries. I often can't make it to actual protests due to my work schedule, but I've loved helping to make these and meeting like-minded neighbors of all ages.

Chicago: wanna book or host a show with a small but mighty marching band? Clamor & Lace Noise Brigade a band composed solely of--and focusing on music by--people of marginalized genders. We're also known for our shiny costumes, high-energy performances, and commitment to good causes.

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is sight-reading brass arrangements of Christmas carols for all to hear. And I do mean "all."

Journal, 1988 (age 10): "Putting up a Christmas tree is like reliving the past. Every ornament has a memorable secret--and talking, laughing, and listening to Christmas music, you can find them out."

My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is changing my Facebook profile picture to this picture of the deflated Kermit the Frog balloon in the 1992 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

This is my preschool classroom kindness tree. We're capturing times we're kind to others, times others are kind to us, and times we see kind things happening in the world around us. Look at all those kind things that have happened in the last two weeks! That is pretty awesome.
