Putin sits in Moscow claiming that his armies have taken a town that the Ukrainian president is personally visiting. There are cowardly tyrants and there are courageous elected leaders and it is good to know the difference.
Putin said Russia had taken Kupiansk weeks ago.

Today, Zelenskyy visited Ukrainian troops there.

Noam Chomsky and Steve Bannon yucking it up. Not only has Noam been a parroting Russian talking points against Ukraine, but he’s also appears to be up to some tankie-panky. He’s not the same man I used to know decades ago — or is he?

If Ukraine ever falls none of you fuckers will ever rediscover the technology behind kickass coffee shops, top tier humane service and small business that can survive crisis, war and even Гетьманцев.

Help Ukraine win to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created.

Meanwhile, even as everyone is talking about security guarantees and “land swaps”, note what we’re not talking about: reparations, accountability for war, crimes, and dealing with the fact that Russia is bent on military dominion in its neighborhood.

Very interesting and insightful
Putin's cease-fire offer is an attempt to achieve at the negotiating table what he cannot achieve on the battleground: the neutering of Ukraine as a sovereign entity.

TL;DR: It's not about territorial control.

Plus, end Nordstream once and for all, cement the pivot away from Russian gas, complete interconnectors to protect Ukraine and Moldova, and end the loopholes for Hungary, Slovakia and others.

So yes, Europe has power.

The Commission can and should push the pace on EU enlargement, even if NATO is off the table -- again, daring Russia to do something about it.

And it can deprioritize servicing US foreign policy priorities if Washington persists in ignoring European concerns.

Today’s retaliatory strikes by Ukraine in the Russian Federation - a response to an ongoing onslaught of massive nightly aerial bombings of critical civilian infrastructure by the Kremlin. Is a reminder just how restrained Ukraine has been in its response to Russian aggression.

First impressions on the US-Ukraine deal are that Ukraine has shown that its always best not to grovel, apologize or become desperate with Trump. He cut their aid, helped kill their people, and they kept fighting with their head held high. They made him look cruel and he blinked

Today was a good day for 🇺🇦 diplomacy: 🇺🇸 arms and intel support are restored, political pressure shifts to 🇷🇺, at the cost of a notional commitment to a ceasefire, with no territorial concessions and, as yet, no minerals deal.

Things get harder from here, though.

An effective European response, then, requires setting aside conversations about what Trump or Putin will do next, and focusing on what Europe itself needs to do to provide security and stability for Ukraine and the continent.

Without the frozen assets, however, Europe cannot rebuild and defend Ukraine. And without those assets, there is no justice for the victims of Russian aggression. Imperative 3⃣ for Europe, then, is to take them off the table.

In this sense, US selling out Europe but staying in the Alliance might be the worst of all worlds for Europe, as it makes NATO organizationally defunct. Like an OSCE.

Thus, Europe needs to begin seriously think about how to structurally defend itself as Europe without NATO. 7/

If the US had continued to support Ukraine, we may have been months away from the end of the war. The Russians would not have been able to continue to fight for much longer. They were making almost no progress, taking huge casualties.

🇺🇸🇺🇦 To seasoned diplomatic observers, Trump’s furious dressing down of Zelensky in the Oval Office was a planned political mugging, a trap set by the Trump administration to discredit the Ukrainian leader and remove him as an obstacle to whatever comes next, - CNN
