This is what happened to the last of this year's greengages (bar a box in the freezer). The base is basically a layer of shortbread and it's lovely.

Did someone say jumper weather? I have made a cardigan for me and a hoodie for the boy (minus zip as I don't have one yet). From measuring to this on the hoodie in one day. Unlike the cardigan which has been taking up the dining room table for months. #sewing

My son's effort is a bit naff in comparison. He hit himself in the face with a skipping rope and the grass took it. Sometimes I think about how many teeth there on the average school grounds.

For the kids, it means they get a large choice of what to read. It also means I can take a risk on a book I'm not sure they'll like. As it turns out, my daughter is totally on board with the idea that Byron is a twat. (Book is 'Mary and Frankenstein')

Good morning to have the bike under cover. Although in a tragic piece of telling on myself, I was so distracted looking at the parking that I left my bag in the bike and had to go back for it.

Today I have altered a dress for the first time. Took it in under the arms to the waist. Slight misalignment in the result and the original construction involved a lot of internal seams it was impossible to replace properly, but not displeased.

Today discovered my daughter's varied modes of talking to plants at my allotment. Green beans: roundly mocked as their beans are snipped off. Halloween pumpkin: lavish words of encouragement and praise (although I suspect its time will come).
