Only insane people would seek out the counsel of a man who relies on Jeffrey Epstein for dating advice and Milton Friedman for economic inspiration.
NEW: Before the recent Epstein disclosures, Larry Summers was poised to lead the economic policy plank for the Democrats' "Project 2029" effort at the Center for American Progress. He signed off on a housing policy paper CAP was prepping for next week.

Epstein Confidant Larry Summers Guiding Democrats’ ‘Project 2029’ - The American Prospect
Summers was overseeing the economic policy plank of the Center for American Progress’s effort. Emails released this week show him in regular contact with Jeffrey Epstein.

Heartwarming: this Boomer politico still shares his cancelable opinions the old fashioned way! (emailing his pedophile friend)
I saw a lot of people pretend that Summers’ sexism was taken out of context but here he is emailing pedophile Jeffrey Epstein 10 years after the scandal, explaining that he thinks women have lower average IQs than men. I think he’s just a misogynist, nothing more to it

Demsas is back on her bullshit. She’s revised the incorrect justification she used before (Social Security) and replaced it with a new reason to punish immigrants: they dare to have children.

No mention of this penalty applies to US born kids of immigrants (also known as citizens)

Was listening to the radio and was surprised to hear a local plumbing company advertisement include the line: "Don't settle for an ordinary plumber, or even worse a private equity owned plumbing company"

Crazy that awareness of PE roll ups has become mainstream enough that it’s a selling point

Former Congressman Tim Ryan is waging a PR campaign on behalf of the cryptocurrency industry’s SuperPAC this morning. He somehow forgot the crucial role Fairshake played in helping defeat Sherrod Brown in Ryan’s home state of Ohio. Completely embarassing to sell out like this

It’s really revealing that Jean-Pierre seems to think Harris should have been promoted not because of merit (she herself thought Harris would lose) but because Harris was a victim of mistreatment. It’s the same thinking that led to Merrick Garland at AG. A party based on pity rather than power

A fun byproduct of unitary executive theory—if the president controls everyone under him, he can demand they transfer hundreds of millions in tax dollars into his bank account
Breaking News: President Trump wants $230 million from the Justice Department for investigating him, people familiar with the matter say. Any settlement might ultimately be approved by senior department officials who defended him or those in his orbit. nyti.ms/4hmIi5X

Tim Ryan's analysis of what ails the Democratic Party is that it has become corrupted by big business. Fair enough. But what he forgets to mention is that he's been an advisor to crypto giant Coinbase since 2023, the same company that's threatening anyone that questions its corporate agenda. Whoops!

Guy looking at feudal lords living in castles, wearing fancy plate armor and concluding that it’s the peasants living in small huts in the fields, wearing hairshirts who must be the real oppressors in this situation

Finally decided to give the book you all have been talking about a read. I feel like all the reviews have been really misleading, I’m not getting the same vibe at all

Tough break for Alex Trembath and all the other abundists who insisted this is a "bottom-up" movement. Looks the speech delivered at the Abundance Conference just three weeks ago is hilariously out of touch with reality.

They've erected a 12 foot tall statue of the President of the United States of America requesting, and receiving a payoff. They aren't just okay with the corruption, they're celebrating it.

Launching a new think tank where we celebrate corporate sellouts advising our candidates. The proof is in the pudding. (I am unaware of who actually won the 2024 election, can someone inform me?)

The Trump administration has negotiated a sweetheart deal for the purchase of TikTok by American firms. It just so happens that these firms are tied to Trump supporters. Some already have experience manipulating traditional news sources in a pro-Trump direction. Is TikTok next?
Andreessen Horowitz, which will be one of three firms to lead the acquisition of TikTok, is headed by Marc Andreessen, a Silicon Valley tech titan who considered himself to be "an unpaid intern" of Elon Musk's DOGE. But he's not the only major Trump ally involved with this deal
TikTok’s U.S. business would be controlled by an investor consortium including Oracle, Silver Lake and Andreessen Horowitz under a framework the U.S. and China are finalizing.

For all his tough talk, I haven’t once seen Gavin Newsom defend UCLA or Berkeley from the Trump administration’s attacks. It’s embarrassing. You would think the Governor would stand up to protect the country’s two best public universities, which he happens to oversee, but so far it’s crickets
1. UCLA is in negotiations with Trump. Now we know the demands.

Trump wants a statement that UCLA does not recognize trans student identities, a ban on youth care at UCLA clinics, bathroom bans, and more.

Students are fighting back.

Demsas happily spoke at the abundance conference last week, knowing that Charles Lehman of "Deportation abundance" fame, Samuel Hammond of "The EA case for Trump" and Thomas Hochman of "the YIMBY case for alligator Alcatraz" would be there.

Now that she got pushback she's trying to backpedal
