Small correction, the liability spend is $750 million in 2025. So, Brian Jean the math is $144.5+$750= $894.5 million in 2025. Provided that no one goes bankrupt with oil being below $65/bbl WTI. #RecallTheUCP with me and @henry-w.bsky.social thegravitywell.net/recall-for-c...

The Kenney government lifted the 1976 moratorium on coal mining in the Rockies; the public rose up in anger; the Kenney govt backtracked and returned the moratorium.

Smith and Jean have just listed the moratorium again. Will the public respond? Once more unto the breach??? #abpoli
Breaking. Minister Jean lifts the coal moratorium. No doubt a response to the compensation claims.

We are building momentum
I’m part of a group that strongly objects to Grassy Mountain. We will be marching in Pincher Creek Jan 3, then Fort Macleod & Lethbridge plus attending AER hearings in Calgary Jan 14&15. Yes LLG is still fighting. They will present @AER hearings.

Many opponents of coal mining in the Alberta Rockies thought that was the end of it.

But the company behind the Grassy Mountain project didn't give up.

It rebranded and continued to lobby the government, while also applying for new exploratory permits:
Vern vs. the miners
This lone mountain man is taking on the richest person in Australia in a new battle over coal in Alberta’s Rockies.

Four years ago, I put a tripod and 600mm telephoto lens on my back and scrambled up Mount Erickson, near the Alberta-B.C. border, so I could get a clear view of what an open-pit coal mine looks like.

It was for a feature story on Alberta's plan to open up the Rocky Mountains to mining like this:

The federal Chief Actuary has released their analysis of what Alberta would receive should it exit the CPP.

It's clear and accessible; give it a read: www.osfi-bsif.gc.ca/en/oca/oca-...

TL;DR: The Government of Alberta's 53% share is rejected. I'll explain. #cdnecon #cdnpoli

That’s such BS!
This is pretty wild.

The AER is apparently ordering copies of its hearings into grassy mountain hearings scrubbed from the internet?

So it’s not Trudeau controlling the internet, it’s Smith’s government?
