Today my parents moved off the family farm after 45 years and I am so emotional about it. I know it was time, but I would also give anything to sit on the front porch one more time.

I have come to my childhood home for the 2nd to last time and it is extremely hard to imagine this place not being here for me anymore. Feeling feelings.

the irony of making this stupid assessment while cropping the image of kendrick performing humble against a backdrop of an american flag tearing itself apart. i mean damn, you're just stupid. you're just dumb and loud and wrong.
Kendrick Lamar, the first rapper to headline the NFL's biggest stage solo, made his Drake diss "Not Like Us" the centerpiece of his Super Bowl halftime set at the expense of a larger statement, our music critic writes.

This is a very real cost. A school I work at doesn’t get free lunches, but we stopped offering ezilunch last year because we didn’t have staff capacity or volunteers to distribute the lunches. I can only imagine how laborious it would be with double/triple the roll.
New lunch programme is costing schools more, principal says
Under the old system, lunch providers distributed meals directly to students, but now large schools are employing extra staff to get the meals to students.

You guys, so this morning I sent my daughter off to cricket with weetbix to eat in the car. She didn’t eat it and instead left the container of milk in the hot car for about 5 hours. By the time she got home it was a solid, but it smells fine. Have we made yoghurt? Will I die if I eat it?

This chart is from the very first IPCC Assessment in 1990, showing various predictions of emissions based on scenarios where we took different actions.

This is where we are after 33 years, just under the 'Business as Usual" scenario - 33 years of denial, prevarication and late-stage capitalism.

Very big sport week ahead for the 13 year old. Cricket tournament Mon-Thursday, then waterpolo North Island champs Thursday-Sunday. Has been moved up to bat number three for the first XI tomorrow. I’m a teeny bit nervous for her!

I was listening to Daniel Faitaua interview David Seymour and I’ve had to stop cos it was angry cooking. How many times can he say “we need to alleviate the conversation” instead of just answering the question. How Faitaua held it together I do not know.

Been clearing out some storage and found a crocheted knee rug my husband’s nana made him - Canberra Raiders colours circa 1990. I feel like you guys will appreciate this.

I have just spent the day teaching a class I see relatively frequently and oh boy, the behaviour! Every trick in the book today and I’m exhausted. I’m really worried what these kids are going to do for jobs. All they want to do is be YouTubers. They do not care about anything.

This morning we had the great hair tie amnesty. They got one minute of screen time for every hair tie they found. Together they found over 60 hair ties!

This meola road news item on RNZ is wild. On the one hand storm water improvements, bike lanes etc, on the other hand we found 3 people who will have to find somewhere else to walk their dogs for a couple of months. Struggling for empathy here.

A fellow teacher came into my class and was admiring the art. She noticed one of these things was not like the others.

You guys, I have duty today which means I only get a 20 minute break all day and I’ve forgotten the fruit to go with my oats and my classroom stash of nice coffee has run out. 😭😭😭 grim times.

I’m kinda glad I wasn’t paying attention to the election results. Instead I was watching my daughter’s waterpolo team beat St Kent’s to get through to the final of North Island champs. It was so exciting and cool. Then I got home turned on the tv and that whole business is just giving depression.
