He/Him - Chicago
A failing satellite on the edge of the void. Methodically invested. A drummer, so I always get to move to my own beat. Find the things you love and try to put more of it into the world.
I believe at least one of the store owners talks about it in the Igniting the Spark documentary. Peter speaks about it as well.

I always read the first as “Warren Powerstone.” I imagine he would be the lead character of an action franchise once cinema arrives in Dominaria.

I’ve been describing it as “if Dandan met Momir in the woods.” Ideal for a quick game while you’re waiting for another Commander pod to finish.

I was trying to design a small cube that only used bears, and accidentally created a multiplayer shared deck minigame. Deck is only lands, each player starts with Words of Wilding in their Command zone. First blood becomes the Monarch and I *think* 10 life is the correct starting place.
Main Bears (Card package) • Archidekt
Card Package (35) Basics • (7) Instant • (54) Land • (4) Sorcery Shared deck game for 3-4 players. Each player begins with 20 life, seven cards, a copy of Words of Wilding in their command zone, a...

You could start a band and immediately have merch!

I’ve been surprised at how many cards fit themes of my existing decks, but nothing has lit my brewing spark as a Commander.

This set did give me one conundrum. I’ve been running Bant creature lands with Angus Mackenzie, and it feels like I should replace him with Aang listening to Bone Thugs.

Such a noble cause!

In my early days I loved Tawnos’s Weaponry. I run Power Matrix in a few EDH decks as well!

This is my trying to use design to meet in the middle. I was trying to find a way to have a hybrid card be green in a green deck, white in a white deck, or both in a deck that would allow that.

Ideally it’d be colored similar to a multicolored artifact card. I wrote it up as a mechanic that uses the basic land types in your deck to determine the type of mana needed for it’s casting cost. Doing this in a way that lets it behave how everyone would like it to goes into the weeds a bit.

Aside from this, my own reservations are the push that you see in Modern from the Modern Horizon formats. Commander is an eternal format. I don’t need design to use hybrid design to try and solve something. I need more excuses to dig through 25 years of cards and recontextualize their use.

Hybrid is supposed to be either/or, but that only affects the casting cost. Once a hybrid permanent is on the battlefield it *is* both colors. I mocked up a copy of Kitchen Finks that behaves the way it should function to work in Commander.

I’ve been hung up on BIG | BRAVE for a bit. Not brutal, but heavy, intricate, and open.

Just realized “What do I do / with a chair-and-tables” can be sung to the tune of “Drunken Sailor”, and that’ll be stuck in my head all day.

When I was 13 years old there was a group of girls that I was friends with that played. I got into it as an excuse to hang out with them more. I had a gift box with two Revised starter decks and a few Fall Empires packs. Deck construction was every card you owned shuffled together.

I sort-of fixed it for the way people *want* it to work. This would be either/or instead of still being both. Ideally the frame would look more like a multicolor artifact and there would be a symbol for this in the cost, but this is the best I could cobble together on mtg.design

I’ve spent a decade trying to make Bant Creaturelands work, and Aang, at the Crossroads and Toph, Earthbending Master are welcome additions.

I’ve also been brewing a deck in Grixis that cares about bottom of library. Dutiful Knowledge Seeker and Wan Shi Tong, All-Knowing are great fits.
