Great to see Alt over here - where's the rest of you?
And we’re asking for your help. Use your voice: write letters, make calls, submit public comments. Show the world how much these places mean to you. Social media can be a powerful tool to spread awareness, and if needed, we’ll march together to stand up for these lands. 3/4

'Even mature wetlands will eventually succumb to rising seas if rates of erosion and inundation outpace sedimentation. That is, unless they have somewhere to run.'

A fascinating and complicated story, beautifully told with stunning photos. Should be on the cover of Nat'l Geo.
Well worth the read!

Not just fossil fuels but food systems as well - methane and nitrous oxides from industrial animal agriculture are far more potent greenhouse gases, pushing us rapidly towards the tipping point.
On Saturday eve at #COP29 I watched a presentation by @rahmstorf.bsky.social followed by Q&A. At the end of a long-heavy day of interviews, I felt whacked. This session exemplified the chasm between dangerous risk we face & our empty response to it. It all comes back to eradicating fossil fuels ....

Now THAT is behavioural science in action! Most people do want to be more environmentally friendly. We need to understand the barriers to action, not just the drivers (hint: it's not always just about money).
Interesting program launched by MCE in the Bay Area that incentivizes contractors to give homeowners who need a new water heater a temp "loaner" heater before later converting them to heat pump water heaters. Takes the pressure off without saddling customers w/ new ~20yr gas investment
I published a story today, Emily, about a clever new program in the SF Bay Area that gives homeowners time to opt for a heat pump water heater in cases like the one you described: www.quittingcarbonmedia.com/taking-the-e...

So glad to see 2.3K reposts - keep them going. This is the true threat to democracy: corporacracy.

Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post.

Elon Musk owns Twitter/X.

Now, if only we were more likely to be listened to...
Women are disproportionately more vulnerable to climate impacts--and we're more likely to demand climate action!

I'm grateful to @cathmckenna.bsky.social for bringing us together and for being a voice at COP29 calling for action.

Please do this--my (Democratic) congressman's office has not been getting calls on this, so your call can make a difference.

This currently bipartisan bill, which is being fast-tracked, would hand Trump a loaded weapon to destroy any nonprofit whose mission he dislikes.
Here's how:
1. CALL your Reps www.usa.gov/elected-offi...
2. Hello, I'm a voter in [zip code] & I want to urge [Congressperson's name] to vote NO on H.R. 9495, because I don't want non-profit organizations in our community to have their tax status dismantled next year without evidence against them.
