It is intellectual property theft, yes; it is also using up water that is needed to sustain life. However much you ignore (or even don't care about) the first point, that second point is going to be much more problematic in a very real way, especially in areas with already limited resources.

Faculty--and universities--who are inclined to educate students in the "ethical" uses of AI ignore its environmental impact, which is the fundamental reason that AI use is not only unethical but also highly irresponsible.
