A cycling website based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Getting around by bike, leisure cycling, and the Tour de France. I'll follow back anyone who loves bikes.
I agree with all that. CWIS is supposed to plan the investment so we can get there. It's like the management of a project - you need an overall objective, then plans with time-bound milestones along the way. Without a plan and a timeline, it's unlikely that the objective will be achieved.

Well done on your contribution, Laura, you are a good spokesperson for cycling. It all seemed so promising when Louise Haigh was Transport Sec, but now the govt is intent on spending zero political capital on active travel, and just leaving everything to councils. Disappointing.

Including Palantir, which has received billions from contracts with the US and UK govts - roughly 55% of the company's 2024 revenues, according to Google.

Yes, Hebden Bridge is nice. Aberdeen doesn't feature in the Scotland list, so it must have moved to Yorkshire.

It is a good article raising the issue of carspreading in a useful way. I don't mind the quotes from people justifying their SUVs, because readers can make up their minds how convincing the arguments are.

Looks like anti-cycling, anti-walking, high traffic enthusiasts trying to get their way by bullying tactics.

Wouldn't the solution be more bus stops and taxi spaces, rather than opening up the city centre to cars again? Because cars are not neutral - where they dominate, they deter people from cycling, and make places much less pleasant to spend time.

I also strongly disagree with airport expansion. It will do very little for the UK economy, and it is simply incompatible with our climate commitments. The govt ends up looking terrible, because the only way ministers can justify it is by making dishonest claims about "sustainable aviation".

I have reservations about the catchphrase 'backing the builders not the blockers'. Most political catchphrases are irritating because they are over-used, and they over-simplify complex issues.

No it really isn't. Apart from anything else, Heathrow 3rd runway would be financed privately not by govt news.sky.com/story/heathr...
HS2 supporters often accuse opponents of being for road-building or for airport expansion when it's simply not true.
Heathrow Airport's £33bn third runway plan chosen by government
Construction involves re-routing the M25 motorway and the demolition of nearby villages.

It isn't a binary choice, HS2 or Heathrow 3rd runway. I'm sure the Greens and Jenny Jones are against airport expansion.

One of the interesting graphics is household car availability.

I've done a recent post here hedgehogcycling.co.uk/wp/2025/11/2... which contains links to the govt National Travel Survey publications.

I'm not convinced that UK farming has anything to do with what's 'green' or sustainable.

Really? How on earth does Kettle know this? It seems to me that the budget has been reasonably well-received. There are no signs of an inflamed and febrile mood when I go out of my front door. All you're doing with this rubbish is making it more likely that Farage succeeds.
