I hope your Bluesky posts are fascinating today, because if not I have my response ready 🙂

These are the Rightmove Happiest Places to Live rankings for Yorkshire & the Humber. Do you agree with them?

The weather forecast: rain for the rest of time.

I also strongly disagree with airport expansion. It will do very little for the UK economy, and it is simply incompatible with our climate commitments. The govt ends up looking terrible, because the only way ministers can justify it is by making dishonest claims about "sustainable aviation".

One of the interesting graphics is household car availability.

The point I made was sensible and uncontroversial: China is the world's biggest emitter by a long way, and if their emissions are about to peak then reduce, that matters. I will not be subject to juvenile point-scoring from you.

To an extent, although China is the big one.

I'm looking on from England's largest county where we don't have a single metre of dedicated cycle track of any width, but
I liked cycling along the Embankment in September on a Santander Cycle.

Good to see a new Toucan crossing in Harrogate.
Shame they have set it to prioritise drivers.

The Chipsy King, Morecambe - a reference to local resident Tyson Fury, who is known as the Gypsy King.
Is there a shop with a pun in its name local to you?

Bicycle lanes key to remarkable Paris cycling boom hedgehogcycling.co.uk/wp/2025/10/1...
Admittedly, this could be filed under 'who'd 'ave thunk it'.

Increasing capacity for motor vehicles generates more motor vehicle traffic and fails to tackle congestion.
October 11, 2025 at 8:17 AM
This is the Ugly: a narrow, painted cycle lane in between two traffic lanes on the approach to a busy junction. How would you redesign this? 3/3
October 6, 2025 at 4:02 PM
There are plenty of contenders for the Bad, including the narrow painted cycle lanes on High Bridge. Another is a preposterous cycle path that starts about 10m before a roundabout and chucks you back onto the A-road about 20m after it 2/3

I've been looking at cycle infra in Knaresboro, and here's the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
The Good is a modal filter which prevents rat-running from new housing developments through older housing estates towards the town centre. (It should really be the Brilliant) 1/3

@ynymayor.bsky.social 2 points about the Local Growth Plan yorknorthyorks-ca.gov.uk/york-and-nor...
(1) Clean energy is great but burning wood at Drax is NOT clean energy, it's a carbon accounting trick that covers up vast quantities of GHG emissions.
(2) The text on the CA website is too wide
