I am thrilled to announce that the job market is over for me. I will be joining the Department of Management at the University of Toronto Mississauga campus as an Assistant Professor (in the Teaching Stream). I am thrilled to be joining a vibrant department at UTMM.
Saw the 505 streetcar run a red last night. Looked up when I saw a cyclist shouting and having to turn to get out of the way. We deserve better from our transit operators.

If I was interested in running for electoral office myself (I’m not), I’d run hard on consumer protection. EVERYONE is annoyed by how difficult it is to cancel subscriptions, how the only way to resolve billing issues is to have AI attempt and fail to help you for 20 minutes first, etc.

I recently updated my University of Toronto News and Information starter pack, which includes more than 60 UofT libraries, centres, departments, campuses, programs, schools, research networks, etc. Please let me know if I'm missing any accounts that should be included.

“Nobody thinks it’s a good idea,” Dave Webb, of the Surrey Union of Drug Users, tells @godfrey.bsky.social. “I thought in treatment we were supposed to reconnect with our loved ones and friends. If we’re putting somebody in segregation, how is that going to work?”
BC Involuntary Treatment Taking Place in a Solitary Confinement Unit
It raises pressing questions about the wellbeing of people being subjected to a form of treatment to which experts already object.

It makes me sad that auto companies have discontinued their subcompact vehicles due to low demand. Lots of people (including myself) don’t need a huge vehicle! It’s better for the climate and for vulnerable road users if those of us who have to drive don’t drive massive vehicles.

A little more than a month ago, I wrote about why ramping up the drug war was unlikely to appease Trump and make him back down on tarriffs (I was right):
Canada’s response to Trump tariff threats risks unintended consequences. As @heatherbone.bsky.social explains in this article, there’s no easy answer. However, the most likely Canadian actions have all proven ineffective in the past. Read here: policyoptions.irpp.org?p=115227

While it would have been easier if the city of Toronto dedicated adequate resources to snow removal (sidewalks were a slippery mess), I managed to vote this weekend!

Lots of things you probably care about (healthcare, education, and our court system) are affected by provincial policies. VOTE.
