✨ Exeter in the 1920s Fayre and Show ✨

Exeter’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Anne Jobson, and her consort paid the event a wonderful compliment by arriving in full 1920s costume!

Happy #InternationalCatDay! 🐱

Did you know that Exeter Cathedral has a cat flap that is over 400 years old? A bishop paid for it to be cut for his cat, which was then paid a weekly penny to hunt the mice attracted to the Astronomical Clock's grease.

The decline of the high street is well documented. But I was sad to come across the final days of the House of Fraser in Eastbourne. Had a summer job here many decades ago.

Terrific news from @rammuseum.bsky.social !
This Alfred the Great penny is the earliest known use of the name 'Exeter'! 😲

It has just entered the collection at RAMM, over 1,100 years after being minted, and 185 years after its discovery in a Viking horde in Lancashire.

Please think before throwing away!
A vape battery caused a serious fire in one of our bin lorries this week, badly damaging the vehicle and disrupting traffic in the city centre. Thankfully, our quick-thinking crew and the fire service kept things from getting worse.

Very relieved that they have taken to closing Harleyford Road to traffic, outside the @kiaoval.com, before and after a popular match. It must be very annoying for commuters, but it’s a great deal safer given the size of the crowd.
