I just read it, it's great. Reminds me also a little of Reynolds - some big-picture thinking over vast timescales. I was hoping for a sequel but don't think there is one.

I'd rather not give them any ammunition and I suspect Labour feels the same way.

As much as I'd like this, the government can't possibly do this as it will be weaponised against them by Reform and the Tories.

As an expat / immigrant myself (Portugal), I can tell you it's not cheap moving to any country, but Dubai is on another level entirely.

I made the mistake of picking politics as a topic to follow, even though it's why I left X. Now I see 3 types of post, photos of Trump, Elon, or AI imagery pretending to be Hubble Telescope photos.

Anyway, you have a lovely Xmas Phil, or as we call you in my home "Alright, My name's Phil". 👍🏼

Yes, it's on a different level to most. I'd say it transcends the genre really, and zombies are kind of a vehicle for the story more than anything. I felt the same with Sea of Rust regarding AI. Have you read that one?

I had a lot of trauma and recently found out I have total aphantasia. Also my mum is schizophrenic. One theory is that aphantasia is a defence mechanism for schizophrenia.

Currently exploring that truma in the hope of fixing my aphantasia.

Ah yes, apologies. Both words are often used interchangeably (according to Stout). Great book anyway.

Big fan of @aptshadow.bsky.social but not read this one yet.

The Psychopath Next Door by Martha Stout is also good.
