V'Ger, running on Fortran and less memory than a smartphone
Happy V'Ger Day, space nerds! Today in 2012, Voyager 1 entered interstellar space, becoming the first human-made object to do so, entering interstellar space at about 122 AU, or about 11 billion miles (18 billion kilometers) from the Sun. We celebrate by watching #StarTrek The Motion Picture. 🛰️🔭🦛
Interstellar Mission - NASA Science
The Voyager interstellar mission extends the exploration of the solar system beyond the neighborhood of the outer planets to the outer limits of the Sun's sphere of influence, and possibly beyond.

Aztec sun deity Huitzilopochtli - who carried a shield and serpent spear - watched over the souls of dead warriors [and women who died in childbirth]. These souls accompanied the passage of the sun through the heavens - and were eventually reborn as Hummingbirds.
