I used to write about music in Terrorizer (UK) and Extreme Noise (Oz), but that was a long time ago. Now I guess I'm just an amateur opinion-haver. Metal, drone, minimalism, maximalism, bit of industrial, etc.
Simply cannot mentally separate Jeff Mills and Jeff Wayne in my mind. "Oh it's cool that the War of the Worlds guy went on to have a second career as a DJ", etc. Irrevocably merged forever in my remaining shreds of brain, inseparable, sorry.
Jeff Mills
Live at Liquid Room

Jeff’s legendary template for high-velocity DJing, shelling 38 tracks in 67 minutes broken by daring fade outs, riding the pitch, even turning the power off = genius, un-quantised tension & funk

#nowplaying Phantom Spell 'Heather & Hearth' - superb and wildly eccentric new LP from the utterly mental prog/NWOBHM leaning Seven Sisters side project. My favourite album of the year *thus* far *by* far.

In the early 90s I was getting off a tube carriage just as Bobby Gillespie was getting on. I said, 'Oh, Bobby Gillespie'. He nodded and said 'All right?'
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

My commute was delayed today by a guy riding an actual penny farthing in full technical MAMIL lycra get-up. Peak Oxfordshire.

And to think people are saying Ministry’s Squirrely Years Revisited has the daftest LP cover of the year…

There is a wonderful purity to being a music fan at 16, isn't there? Certainly based on my chosen four. "THIS is brilliant, THAT is awful; THIS GENRE is my *life*, THAT GENRE is irredeemable rubbish for deluded imbeciles" & so on.

Finally enjoying last year's Sleepytime Gorilla Museum album after giving up on ever finding a CD copy I can file next to the others. Love the way they include stuff like this amongst the impenetrable proggery. Like Stewart Lee, "we *can* write songs, we just choose not to". youtu.be/8I8T0xWjok4?...
